Florham Park is known as a “Community of Volunteers” because of the many civic and community organizations that deliver social and recreational opportunities for the residents. In addition, many of Florham Park’s vital services such as the Florham Park Memorial First Aid Squad and the Florham Park Fire Department are being provided through the efforts of private citizens. The local Governing Body is also comprised solely of volunteers, as well as the many Boards, Commissions and Committees who oversee and establish guidelines for development and future direction of the town.
The Florham Park Public School system consists of 2 elementary schools, and one middle school, all recently renovated. There is one Catholic elementary school (Holy Family School). High school students attend Hanover Park Regional High School. There are also a number of private secondary schools in nearby towns. The suburban campus of Fairleigh Dickinson University and the College of St. Elizabeth are located here as well.
Residents also enjoy a wide variety of recreational activities available in Florham Park. The 70 acre Municipal Complex contains numerous sports fields, tennis courts, basketball courts, and the Municipal Pool. Additionally, the Gazebo hosts a free summer concert series beginning in June through the end of July. The newly expanded Free Public Library is also located in the complex. Also noteworthy are events such as the awesome Fourth of July Parade and Fireworks Display that is presented each year and the annual Pictures with Santa held each December in the Community Center.
These amenities, along with the highly rated school system, convenient location to trains, buses, and major airports, and a friendly small-town atmosphere make it easy to understand why Florham Park is one of Morris County’s most desirable communities to live in.
